They moved to Concord from Salisbury, Rowan County, NC about 1918.

The store was located at 200 S. Spring St. at "Five Points," which is the intersection of S. Spring St., Chestnut St. and Broad St.  It was called 
4th Ward Cash Grocery on the 1936-1937
Concord City Directory. By 1940, it had been
purchased by W.B. Harrison.  He died in 1941,
and sometime between 1942-1946 the store
was sold to John L. Ballard.  The building
was demolished in the 1970's.
