Tennis Jewell

This is my father, Tennis Jerry Jewell, son of Johnie Newton Jewell and Nina Mae Hale Jewell. My grandmother said when she took him to have his picture made, the photographer asked her why she had overalls on a girl. She told him that it was a boy. The photographer did not believe her. She said she almost had to undress him before he finally was convinced that she was a he. He was about 18 months old when the picture was taken in 1937.
