Byron Miles Carolan

 Byron Miles Carolan, age 81, of Melbourne, Arkansas, died April 11, 1987 at the Baxter Regional Hospital in Mountain Home.  A high school vocational agriculture teacher by profession, he was a Navy Veteran of WWII, a Mason, a member of the Lions Club, and Belview Baptist Church.

 Survivors include his wife, Wanda Cook Carolan of Melbourne; one son, Samuel Jefferson Carolan of Melbourne; and one brother, Howell Carolan of Napa, California.

 Services were held Monday, April 13 at the Howard Chapel in Melbourne with Brothers Tim Porter and Leonard Williams officiating.  Burial was in the Melbourne Cemetery under the direction of Howard Funeral Home.

 Pallbearers were Son Lamb, Jeff Mitchell, J. Harris, Rex Fate, J. W. Helm, and James Cook.

Wanda Carolan

Wanda Mae Cook Carolan, daughter of the late Jefferson and Minnie Orah Bursey Cook, was born on September 26, 1925 in Melbourne, Arkansas.  She departed this life on April 28, 2001 in Calico Rock, Arkansas at the age of 75 years 7 months and 3 days.  She was united in marriage to Byron Miles Carolan on May 9, 1947 in Melbourne, Arkansas, to this union one son was born.  During her working years she was a school teacher and a elementary school principal.  She was of the Baptist Faith.

Wanda leaves to mourn her passing, one son, Samuel Jefferson Carolan of Melbourne, Arkansas; two sisters; Audrey Tennessee Cook Rose of Melbourne, Arkansas and Quida Lavon Cook Lovelady of Guion, Arkansas; one brother, Woodrow Walter Cook of Calico Rock, Arkansas, and a host of other relatives and friends.  Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, Nora Mildred Cook Kerr and Ruth Elizabeth Cook Knapp; two brothers, Boyce Jefferson Cook and Robert Wilson Cook.

Funeral services was Monday, April 30, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. at the Roman and Billy Howard Memorial Chapel with brother Doyne Robertson officiating.  Burial was at the Melbourne Cemetery under the direction of Eddie’s Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.  Visitation was Sunday from 6 – 8 p.m.

Pallbearers, Vernon Lovelady, Ronnie Coots, James David Pratt, James Cook, Greg Jeffery, and Bobby Brown.
