William Barnett (Joseph's Father, and young William's Grandfather) came to Paxton Twp., Lancaster Co., Pa. abt. 1730 (now is West Hanover Twp., Dauphin Co., Pa.) with his brother John and their families. "His farm, 'Barnett's Conquest' lay within the lower forks of Beaver Creek , a few miles northeast of now Linglestown, Pa.". They , the Barnetts located directly at the base of the Blue Mountains.... Here Mr. Barnett bought a large tract, reaching from the forks of Beaver Creek to the top of the Blue Mountains.
