The Walker Family

One branch of the Walkers of Haywood County are descended from Spencer Walker (1823-1891). According to W. C. Allen in The Annals of Haywood County Spencer came to Haywood County from the Spartainburg County, SC area in 1840. His father is said to be William Walker. Spencer came to Haywood County with his first cousin, Whipple Hill. They ran a store in Crabtree near the old Crabtree postoffice.

Another branch of the Walkers of Haywood County are descended from Felix Walker. As far as I can determine, this branch is unrelated to the Spencer Walker branch.
