The Sunny Hillside
School was very much a part of the Gutzman family history. From the
time of it's erection in 1885 till the closing of the school in 1948 there
was a Gutzman in attendance. My grandfather, Daniel Gutzman, helped
to build the school and his son Daniel was in the first class held in the
new building. The total cost of the building was $416.50. It
consisted of one large class room accomadating all grades. Today
you will find the school building sitting in the Cambridge park as the Sunny
Hillside School Museum.
Though it is through my Gutzman family research that I discovered
this little school it would be impossible to keep it just in the family.
I hope to find many others who have memories or pictures to add
to these pages. Therefore, I am dedicating it to all Sunny Hillside
members. If you have any information, history, memories, pics, or
just plain stories you would like to share please let me know I would like
to see this page grow to it's fullest.
Please sign my guest book and let me
know if this page has been of any help to you.
