Mt. Ayr Church and Cemetery

It is shown on the 1895 Plat Map of Jefferson Township

on the line between section 31 and 32.

The intersection now is at the junction of Benton Avenue and Merrimac Road.

The church was on the NE corner of the intersection.

The church and all stones are gone. The story goes that a farmer destroyed the

cemetery but I hope the stones were moved to another cemetery.

Robert Patton's father was pastor of this church at one time.
