Cedar Creek Friends Cemetery was begun soon after Cedar Creek Preparative Meeting was set of by Salem Friends Monthly Meeting in January 1841. To the right of the archway the stones are placed in order of burial. Many stones in this part of the cemetery are now buried under sod. My first ancestor buried there, Zachariah Hodson was in September 1843 and he is two thirds of the way to the south end of the first row in the cemetery.

To get to the cemetery from Mt. Pleasant go west on 34 to Franklin Avenue (W55). Go South towards Salem. Take 285th Street west and then north on Erickson Drive. There was a dirt road the road before 285th that could also be taken west and then south on Erickson Drive. Cedar Creek Friends Church is just north of the cemetery. There are pictures of Cedar Creek Church on this web page http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~jeanlee/Jean.html

The cemetery is on the east side of the road and is cared for by the Cedar Creek Friends Cemetery Association, Inc. Our operating expenses are paid from donations to the cemetery. It costs over $2,000 a year to mow the cemetery. There are plans developing, to place a white fence around the cemetery in 2005

Donations may be mailed to Treasurer: Jean Leeper, 910 S Oakbrook Drive, Mt. Pleasant, IA 52641 Jean is presently searching microfilms of old church records searching for names of all buried there. No one record seems to be complete.
