My parents!
I'm the cute six year old on the right.
My sister and my brother are also in the picture.
and attended Cedar Creek Friends Church near Salem, Henry County, IA
Below Cedar Creek Meetinghouse finished in early 1876 for $1,133

Cedar Creek Monthly Meeting was started in 1841, in a log building with logs for benches.
The Meetinghouse above replaced the log one in 1875-76
The pictures of the Meetinghouse were taken ca1900 or before.
They enlarged the building in 1915 and made one larger room for worship and added classrooms.
The shake shingles of the old roof can bee seen through a small door in the upstairs classroom area.
This meetinghouse is believed to be the oldest Quaker Church building in Iowa
as it has the old building inside the newer structure.
Their first paid minister was Tamor MADDOCK.
My step-great grandmother Bessie Ferguson COLLINS was one of the early ministers.
My Mendenhall, Maxwell and Trueblood ancestors were all early members.
A small group of Quakers still worship there.
