Section 33, cemetery of the Poplar Ridge Free Will Baptist Church.

Boyd Lyle, son of Samuel C. and Rebecca (Webb) Lyle, was born 23 July 1845 in Meigs County, Ohio.

He served in Company I, 53rd Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry during the Civil War with his brothers Isaac and Oliver. He and Jennie Whitman were married 25 April 1869. They had three children, a daughter, Jessie Edna, and sons Dana Oliver and Leslie Vaughn. Boyd purchased the land originally owned by James Reynolds in the Kyger area of Cheshire Township in northern Gallia County near his Meigs County origins.

Boyd Lyle died 2 February 1897 and is buried near the cemetery gate with his wife who died in 1931. Some distance away is the grave marker of their daughter's first husband, Elmer E. Spires, who died young. While their daughter's death notice and death certificate indicate she was to be buried in Poplar Ridge, there is no gravestone for Jessie Lyle King (her name when she died in Columbus, Ohio, in 1953) nor was her information added to the marker for her first husband.
