John Lyle was the oldest of the children of James Lyle and Hannah Crawford.
Though the cemetery is in lovely condition, the stones are not and in the back corner we found a large pile of broken stones. John's brother Charles and his wife Sarah were probably also buried here, but they may not have had markers. |
The first child of Charles and Sarah Lyle to die in Iowa must have been John W. Lyle |
The first child of Charles and Sarah Lyle born in Iowa, Martha barely survived three years. |
Charles's son James O. Lyle also lost a young child in Ashland, Iowa |
Charles and Sarah Lyle also lost some of their children as young adults. |
This stone has been broken and repaired. |
