| John Lyle purchased the 40 acres in Keokuk Township, Wapello County, Iowa, in 1857 (see John's deed), but died later that year. His heirs were his six siblings or their estates. Probate of John's estate was completed in 1864 and the heirs began sales of their shares in 1865. |

Jacob Allen || Know all men by these Presents that we William
Lyle and Hannah Lyle his wife of Sullivan
County State of Missouri in consideration of the Sum of Fifty Dollars
in hand paid do hereby sell and convey unto Jacob Allen of Wapello County
and State of Iowa the following described premises to wit The undivided
one sixth part of the West half of the West half of the North East quarter
of Section (23) twenty three in Township (71) Seventy one North of Range (13)
Thirteen West in Wapello County Iowa
And we do hereby Covenant - Warrant - and Defend The Said premises against
the lawful claims of all persons Whomsoever.

Court of Wapello County Iowa upon the application of
the undersigned as guardian of Sarah Ann Judson Lyle minor heir of Sarah
Lyle late of Said County deceased at the January term of Said Court granted
to me as Said guardian license and authority to Sell at public or private S
ale the interest of Said Minor in and to the West half of the West half of the
North East quarter of Section No (23) twenty three in Township (71) Seventy
One North of Range (13) Thirteen west
And Where as the Same was duly appraised at Sixty Six & two thirds (66 2/3)
dollars
Now Therefore Know Ye that in consideration of the premises and in fur-
ther consideration of the Sum of Eighty five dollars to me in hand paid
I have this day Sold at private Sale and I as Said guardian of the
Said Sarah Ann Judson Lyle do hereby bargain Sell and convey to
Jacob Allen all the right title and interest of Said minor in and
to Said land above described to Wit the undivided one Sixth part Thereof
to have and to hold the Same to him Said Jacob Allen his heirs and as-
signs forever
And I hereby covenant with the Said Jacob Allen That I am the law-
ful guardian of Said Minor and as such guardian have full power
license and authority under the order Said County Court to Sell and
convey the Same And That I have fully complied with all the orders
of the court in regard to the Same as provided by Law in Such case
made and provided
In Witness Whereof I as the guardian of Said Sarah Ann Judson Lyle
minor as aforesaid have hereunto set my hand this 13th day of January

This Indenture Witnesseth That we, James Lyle and
Elizabeth Hall, Brother and sister of John Lyle decd both unmarried persons of
Jefferson County, in the State of Indiana, Convey and Warrant to Harry Sedore
in Wapello County in the State of Iowa, for the sum of One Hundred ($100)
Dollars, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, the following Real Estate
in Wapello County, in the State of Iowa, to-wit, The undivided two
Sixths (2/6) of the following described Real Estate to-wit, Part of Section
twenty three (23) Town Seventy one (71) Range Thirteen (13) West, Containing
forty acres, and being the same lands which John Lyle died seized of
said John Lyle purchased the same of James Tull.
In witness whereof The said James Lyle and Elizabeth Hall Each
hereunto set their hands and seals this twelfth day of September 1867.

Know all men by these Presents, That I Samuel C. Lyle
of the County of Meigs, and State of Ohio in consideration of the sum of Fifty
Dollars to me paid by Jerome Wiley of Franklin County in the State of
Indiana, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, do hereby release and forever
quit Claim to the said Jerome Wiley his heirs as assigns forever, the following
Real Estate, situate in the County of Wapello in the State of Iowa, bounded
and described as follows viz.
The undivided one sixth part of the west half of the west half of the North East
quarter (1/4) of Section (23) Twenty three in Township (71) Seventy one North of Range
(13) Thirteen West, in said Wapello County Iowa, containing forty acres of
Land, one undivided Sixth part of which is hereby sold.
To have and to hold said premises, with all the privileges and appurtenances
thereunto belonging to the said Jerome Wiley his heirs and assigns forever.
In witness whereof The said Samuel C. Lyle has hereunto set his hand and
seal this Seventh day of May in the year of our Lord one Thousand
eight hundred and Sixty nine.

the same to be his voluntary act and deed for the uses and purposes
therein mentioned.
