Current Projects, Finds,
Frustrations, and "Brick Walls"
Current "Brick Walls":
Dunn family:
Seeking information to prove/disprove a link to Drury Dunn (12 Jul 1746 (Sussex County VA) - 18 Apr 1811 (Hancock County GA)) via John Michael Dunn (1774 - 1860 (Hancock GA)). It is known that John Michael once lived in Onslow County, NC, and died in the same county as Drury. I have been unable to link the two positively, though several individuals have them listed as Father and Son on their trees.
Coles family:
Seeking information on the family line of my maternal GGrandfather Edward Henry Coles (1875 - 03 Oct 1952, m. Minnie Kate Ballam). Edward's Father was Joseph Coles (1841) and Mother's name was Jane (unknown maiden name). The family resided in Enmore, Somerset, England - apparently for many generations, although I am currently unable to find anything beyond Joseph.
Ogletree Faimly:
Seeking information to prove/disprove a link to the Ogletree family via David Ogletree and Rebeccah Turner. My 4th Great-Grandmother is Susan Ogletree (b. 1800) - she married my 4x GGrandfather, James Crews on June 1, 1818 in Wilkes, Georgia. I can find no direct link pointing to Susan's parentage, the only thing I have come across is this:
"Susan Ogletree who m. James Crews was daughter of David and Rebecca (Turner) Ogletree. In the estate records for David Ogletree - receipts - James Crews for his share of the estate (no date). (This would be in right of his wife.) Sarah Ogletree who married Charles Kursey(sp?) was also daughter of David & Rebecca (Turner) Ogletree. In the estate of David Ogletree, Chas. Kursey receipt in 1825 "in right of his wife."
Source; Early Records of Georgia, Wilkes County, Vol II (Davidson).
This would suggest that the wife of James Crews (for whom he was presumably accepting an inheritance) was a daughter of David and Rebecca(h), but nowhere is is stated definitively.
Any help or information would be greatly appreciated!
