ELWOOD GEDNEY

      Elwood L. Gedney, 78, of 130 W. Maple St., Gladwin, died Sunday, Dec. 15, 1991, in the Gladwin Pines Nursing Home after an illness of a year. Born in Gladwin County, March 17, 1913, he had spent his lifetime here. Mr. Gedney was a member of the Gladwin Assembly of God Church and the Gladwin County Farm Bureau. He was a farmer and also worked at Robinson Industries until retiring in 1977. Mr. Gedney and the former Martha Reinhardt were married Sept. 10, 1940, in Gladwin.
      Besides his wife, he is survived by 4 sons, Lavern and John of Gladwin, Elmer of Louisiana and Paul of Harrison; 2 daughters, Dariene Ballard of Birch Run and Linda Kalinowski of Beaverton; 12 grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by 2 daughters, Sarah Baker and Judy Gedney, a brother Howard and a sister Helen Johnson.
      Rites were held Tuesday at 11 a.m. from the Sisson-Mathews Funeral home. The Rev. Donald Potter and the Rev. Donald Roberts officiated and burial was in the Grout Township Cemetery.

Funeral Set For Mrs. Nelson

        Funeral services for Mrs. Amy Nelson, 75, of 1309 State, will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the Scott Wilson Memorial Chapel. Elder Robert Campbell of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints will officiate and burial will be in Midland cemetery.
        Mrs. Nelson, who had been ill the past month, died unexpectedly at her home Friday.
        She was born Sept. 19, 1884 in Gooderham, Ont., Canada and came to Midland in 1906 from Farwell, Mich. She was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, the Maccabees and for 39 years she had been a member of the Rebekah Lodge.
        She is survived by her husband, Elving O. Nelson; two sons, Eugene H. and Reginald H. DeGeer, both of Midland; five daughters, Mrs. Rufus Keely, Mrs. Don Koppler, Mrs. Chester Duel, Mrs. Albert Asch and Mrs. Theodore Moorehouse; three brothe(r)s, Dewey Dell of Farwell, Willard Dell of Manton and Reginald Dell, Midland; six sisters, Mrs. James DeGeer, Midland, Mrs. Jack Gibbons, Lapeer, Mrs. William Farlow - Caro, Mrs. Merle Esterline, Farwell, Mrs. Harold Moore and Mrs. Thomas Urek, both of Flint; 24 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren.
        Friends may call at the Wilson Funeral Home.

Nellie Esterline

        Nellie Viola Esterline, 76, of 296 North Hall Street, Farwell, died Tuesday, January 25 at the Clare Osteopathic Hospital.
        She was born to Henry and Mary Hadley Dell in Gilmore Township, August 24, 1900 and spent her entire life in the area.
        She married Merle Esterline in Mt. Pleasant on October 21, 1919.
        She was a member of the World War I Auxiliary, Gold Star Mothers, Sparta Esterline V.F.W. Auxiliary and the Farwell Senior Citizens.
        Surviving are 1 son Dell, Farwell; 1 brother, Dewey Dell, Farwell; 3 sisters, Mrs. Dora Moore and Mrs. Olga Urick, both of Flint, Mrs. Jennie DeGear, Midland; 7 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren, 1 son, Gene died in the service in France in 1941 and her husband preceded her in death on December 19, 1974.
        Funeral Services were held Thursday, January 27 from the Coker Funeral Home, Farwell, with Elder Dale Beavers officiating. Burial was in the Surrey Township Cemetery.

DELL, MR. REGINALD

        Mr. Reginald Dell, 92 years, entered into rest Sunday morning in a local nursing home. Born October 2, 1882, in Gooderheim, Province of Ontario, Canada, he moved with his parents in 1888 to Farwell, Michigan where the family lived in (a) typical pioneer style 3-room log cabin on (a) 60 acre farm. He had been a Muskegon area resident for the past 35 years, coming here from Midland. In June 1906, in Marne, Michigan, he was united in marriage to the former Lora A. Wells Rowlin, whose death occurred April 29, 1934. Mr. Dell then married the former Frances Clute in Muskegon Heights on November 24, 1934. Her death occurred December 6, 1970. Mr. Dell had been employed as a mechanic, farmer, millwright, and carpenter, his last employment being with Fitzjohn Body Shop, where he worked until his retirement in 1947. He was a member of Muskegon Heights Eagles Arie No. 2106 and was a Life & Charter Member also a 3rd Degree Mason. Mr. Dell is survived by 2 children, Mrs. Joseph A. (Harriet) Nadeau of Coloma, Mich., and Mr. Lyle A. Dell of Roosevelt Park (Formerly for 36 years at Muskegon Chronicle, Presently Technician for L. C. Walker Productions), 9 grandchildren, and 42 great grandchildren. The Funeral Rites for Mr. Dell will be Wednesday afternoon, 1:00 o'clock, in Wilson Funeral Chapel, Midland, MI., with the Rev. Dr. Wayne E. North, officiating. He will be laid to rest in Midland Cemetery. Friends are invited to call after 2:00 o'clock this afternoon in the Chapel at Achterhoff, where they may meet the family from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today. He will be moved to Wilson Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, where he will lie in state Tuesday evening.
