Individual Note: Obituary of John Howard Gedney

John B. (sp) Gedney, 87, passed away at the Howard Gedney home October 25.
The son of James and Matilda Gedney, he was born in St. Clair county, August 17, 1867. He came to Gladwin county with his parents in 1872 by way of a scow up the Tittabawasee river from Midland and settled on a farm in Grout township which he helped clear and where he remained throughout his life.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at the Hall Funeral Home with the Rev. Truman Lowell officiating. Burial will be in Highland cemetery.

SERVICES HELD FOR HOWARD GEDNEY, 71
Howard M. Gedney, 71, well known Grout Township farmer, died Friday, Oct. 23, in the Herpel Nursing Home following an illness of three years. Born in Grout Township on Sept. 25, 1899, he had spent his life here. Mr. Gedney was a farmer and a member of the Farm Bureau. He was married to the former Marion Milligan on July 17, 1921, in Gladwin.
Besides his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Jeanette White, of Gladwin, Mrs. Blanche Lee, of Beaverton, Mrs. June Hyde, of Flint and Mrs. Norma Klein, of Midland; two sons, Harry (Josh), of Flint and William, of Clare; one brother, Elwood, of Gladwin; one sister, Mrs. Helen Johnson, of Midland; 13 grandchildren.
Services were held Monday at 2 p.m. from the Hall Funeral Home. The Rev. Nelson Clair officiated and burial was in the Highland Cemetery.
