I believe that Peter and Mary (?) DeGeer lived in Stamford TWP for a period of time around 1801 when their son John DeGeer was born there. Peter was born in New York State in 1771, exactly where I do not know. Peter and Mary moved on to Markham where Peter died in the late 1820's. Would appreciate any info that is available.

Meryl. I have found a link to a James DeGeer born c1778 in NY state, married an Elizabeth Brooks Dec 25, 1798 in Fonda, NY (located in Montgomery County) moved northwest to the Township Stamford in 1799 or 1800 (now Niagara, Ont). Could he be related to your Peter DeGeer born c1771 as it is possible that James followed his olfer brother (or cousin). James fathered a Peter B. DeGeer c 1801 in the Township Stamford and this son apparently moved to the Township of Uxbridge and produced some 12 offspring with Hannah Graham. Would like to share additional info to see if there is a link between your Peter born c1771 and James born c1778 and James DeGeer's Peter orn c1801.
