Moses JOHNSON
Mose arrived in Louisiana by 1792 and married Nancy. Moses & Nancy baptized their first five children on 8-7-1803 at St. Landry Catholic church. I have had some that do not believe that Moses is the father of John L. Johnson but I can not find anything to disprove this data. Moses was spelled in different ways; Moise, Mosise; and Johnson in different ways; Jeansonne, Giohcon, Gionsion, Johnson, Jannsonne, Janson and Jansone. Moses emancipated by Matthew & Joseph White in Perquimans Co., N. Car on 13th of Nov. 1784. Isaac Johnson was emancipated by them on 27th Dec. 1786. This info is on pg 5 of book by Paul Hennig. These two were probably brothers. Found Issac in St. Landry parish in early 1800's. Moses married Nancy Ann ROBERTS, daughter of Benjamin ROBERTS and Elizabeth Isabelle COLE, in 1792-1793. (Nancy Ann ROBERTS was born on 30 Jan 1772 and died in 1876.) |
