MARY ANN YOUNG 1864-1948 Mrs. Mary Young Dies At Van Lear Rites Sunday For 84-year-Old Woman Mrs. May Ann Young, 84, died at the home of her son, Tom Young in Van Lear Friday, December 17, 1948, following a three day illness. She was born in Lawrence County, November 19, 1864, the daughter of Paris and Elizabeth White. Her husband, George Young, preceded her in death in 1943. She is survived by eight sons: Monroe, Lowmansville; John, Ulysses; Gilbert, Van Lear; Bradley, Chandlerville; Tom, Van Lear; Bill, Tutor Key; Bert, West Van Lear, and Otto, Van Lear. Three children died in infancy. Funeral services were conducted Sunday at 11:00 at the Sugar Grove United Baptist Church at Kerz by Revs. O. I. Williams, John Daniel, Henry Caudill, and Charley Estepp. Burial was in the Burton cemetery at Chandlerville under the direction of The Jones Funeral Home.
