MERIDA WRIGHT 1888-1953 Funeral services for Merida Wright, 65, prominent Keaton resident and father of ten children were held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the Christian Union Church at Keaton. Mr. Wright died at 12:40 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 13, after suffering a stroke a few hours earlier. He was a lifelong resident of the Keaton vicinity where he was an employee of the Ashland Oil & Refining Co. Born in Johnson County on Sept. 9, 1888, he was a son of the late Henry and Missouri Williams Wright. He was a member of the Baptist Church. Surviving are his widow, Liddie Fyffe Wright, five sons, Luther Wright, Flat Gap, Supervisor of the Johnson County Schools, Blucher Wright, Lincoln Park, Mich., James Wright, Columbus, Ohio, Merl Wright, and Harold Wright, both of Keaton, five daughters, Mrs. Eulah Brickey, Detroit, Mich., Mrs. Kathleen Phillips, Columbus, Ohio, Mrs. Mary Goodwin, Detroit, Mich., Shirley Wright and Ermajean Wright, both of Keaton. Also surviving are one sister, Mrs. Oma Brown, Flat Gap and one brother, Van Wright. In charge of the funeral services were Rev. Willie Sparks and Rev. Emery Ferguson. Special songs were sung by the Toms Creek Quartet. Burial was made in the Lyons Cemetery at Keaton under the direction of the Paintsville Funeral Home. Paintsville Herald 8-19-1953
