WENDELL WITTEN Former Resident Dies Sunday Services Here Tuesday For Wendell Witten Wendell Witten, 33, Lexington, formerly of Paintsville, died at 2:10 a.m. Sunday at St. Anthony Hospital, Louisville, following an illness of several months. Born at White House, he was the son of Mrs. Verlia Johnson Witten and the late Raleigh H. (Ham) Witten. A graduate of Paintsville High School, class of 1941, he attended Berea College, Berea, KY, and was graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1947. He was veteran of World War II and a member of the Central Christian Church of Lexington. He was a former partner in the firm of Witten and Litten, Frozen Food Dealers, Lexington. Surviving besides his mother who now resides in Lexington, are his wife, Willie Smith Witten, Lexington, one brother, Dr. R.E. Witten, Louisville, and his grandmother, Mrs. Anna Johnson. Funeral services were held in Lexinton, Tuesday morning and at the First Christian Church of Paintsville at 3:00 Tuesday afternoon with the Reverend Joseph Zavadsky officiating. Burial was made in Johnson Cemetery at Thelma under the direction of the Jones and Preston Funeral Home and the Milward Funeral Home of Lexington. PAINTSVILLE HERALD WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 19, 1955
