MELVIN WEBB 1891-1965 Funeral services were held for Melvin Webb, 73, well known retired barber, at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the First Christian Church. He had been a resident of Paintsville for many years. Mr. Webb died at 4:20 a.m. March 11 in a Pikeville hospital after a extended illness. He was born Dec.21 1891 in Johnson County a son of the late William J. and Jane Honeycutt Webb, and a member of one of the county's most prominent families. He was affiliated with the Christian Church. A barber for 55 years, he had followed his profession at Van Lear, Ashland, Catlettsburg and Paintsville until ill health forced his retirement. Surviving are his widow, Bessie Webb, two sons, Drexel Webb, Jenkins; Kermit Webb of California, one daughter, Mrs Mattalea Holbrook, Kenton, Ohio; two step-sons, Tom Blevins, Bladensburg Md., John Russell Ward, Hendon, W. Va., one step-daughter, Mrs Helen Delp, Oceanside, Cal., and an adopted daughter, Mrs. Deloris Brown, Louisa. Also surviving are six grandchildren. Officiating ministers were Rev. S.C. Honeycutt and Rev. Charles Saunders. Burial was made in the Van Lear-Clubhouse Cemetery Paintsville Herald Wednesday Mar.17 1965
