JAY SUBLETT JR 1906-1963 Jay Sublett Dies Suddenly Of Heart Attack Jay Sublett, Jr., 56, well known C&O employee, died at 4:50 a.m., Wednesday, may 1, in the C&O Hospital in Huntington, W. Va., of a heart attack suffered eleven hours earlier. The son of Mrs. Lode Webb Sublett and the late Jay Sublett, Sr., he was born in this county, September 4, 1906. He had lived in this city until a month ago when he moved to Ashland. He was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church and had been employed by the C&O for more than thirty years. Surviving besides his mother are his wife, Mrs. Mae Webb Sublett; a sister Mrs. Fannie Allen, Allen; a brother, Alvin Sublett of this city. Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday at the Third Street Freewill Baptist Church with F. S. VanHoose and Claude Preston as officiating ministers. Pallbearers were employees of the C&O Railway Company. They were: C.C. Bragg, Bobby Coles, G.E. Wilson, H.E. Stewart, Paul Crawford, Claude Elliott, J.W. Horton, H.C. Westmoreland, B.J. McMillian, Paul Elliott, Mirman Mc Kenzie and M.C. Allen. Burial was in the Sublett Cemetery. Paintsville Herald Wednesday 5-8-1963
