Charles Ross, 74,
Dies at Winifred Saturday, July 23

Charles Leander Ross, 74, prominent resident of Winifred, died at
his home at 1:30 a.m. Saturday, July 23, after an illness of two
months.

The son of Walter and Sarah Saylers Ross, he was born at Winifred
and spent his entire life in that section, where he was engaged in
farming.

Always active in the interest of his community his death is a loss
to that vicinity and a source of regret to his many neighbors and
friends. His wife preceded him in death in 1940.

He is survived by 10 children, six daughters, Mrs. Zella lee
Cordle, and Mrs. Zora Green, both of Winfield, Mrs. Lilvia Bayes,
S. Webster, Ohio, Mrs. Cynthia Cordle, Cherokee, Ky., and Mrs.
Susie Cordle and Mrs.Maggieline Bayes both of Sciotoville, Ohio;
four sons, Walter, Sunbury, Ohio, Proctor R., Mt. Vernon, Ohio, and
Isaac and Hershell both of Centerburg, Ohio. Also surviving is one
brother, E.E. Ross, Winifred.

Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 pm Sunday July 24, at the
United Baptist Church at Hood by Rev, Cordle.

Burial was in the Winifred cemetery under the direction of the
Paintsville Funeral Home.
