FRANICS MARON RICE 1887-1961 Francis Maron Rice, 74, resident of Flat Gap, died in a local hospital at 11:15 p.m., Tuesday, June 27, after an illness of two months. The son of John E. and Mary Stapleton Rice, he was born in this county February 23, 1887, and had been a lifelong resident of the Flat Gap Community, where he was engaged in farming. He was a veteran of World War I. Surviving are two brothers, Walter Rice, South Shore, Ky., Bruce Rice, Flat Gap; four sisters, Ollie Woodard, Portsmouth, Ohio; Bessie Rice and Rhoda Rice both of Flat Gap; Mrs. Fred Williams, Red Bush. Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 29, from the Bethel United Baptist Church at Flat Gap with Lonza Reed and Tommy Bailey as officiating ministers.
