ERNEST RAY PRESTON 1918-1958 Ernest Preston Dies Saturday Of Heart Attack Funeral services were held Saturday for Ernest Ray Preston, 40, who was found dead in his car on the Thelma road Wednesday evening, April 30, the victim of a sudden heart attack. The son of the late Cyrus and Belle Cunningham Preston, he was born in Johnson County, April 9, 1918, and had lived at Thelka for the past twenty-one years. He was employed as clerk and bookkeeper for the North East Coal Company and was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church. Survivors include his widow, Alta Lee Van Hoose Preston; one daughter, Gwendolyn Preston, at home; one brother, James C. Preston of this city. Services were conducted at 11:00 a.m. at the Freewill Baptist Church at Nippa with C. C. Hall as officiating minister. Music was by the Toms Creek Quartet. Pallbearers were Mils Ratliff, Ed Castle, Arthur Castle, James Heber Conley, Theodore Miller and Altop Kennard. Burial was in the Van Hoose Cemetery at Nippa. Paintsville Herald Wednesday May 7, 1958
