MARY BELLE MEADE
1886-1970
  
An 83-year old Whitehouse resident, Mary Belle Meade, died in a
Louisa hospital on November 26 after suffering an extended illness.
  
The daughter of the late John and Sarah Ward Ratliff, she was born at
Barnetts Creek in December, 1886.
  
Survivors include her husband, Jed Meade, three sons, Earl Meade of
Louisa, Ernest Meade of Locklawn, Ohio, and Howard Meade from
Tomahawk; two daughters, Mrs Hazel Craft of Whitehouse, and Mrs,
Sarah Francis Duvall in Milford, Ohio; three brothers, Roy Ratliff of
West Van Lear, Burns Ratliff from Louisa, and Bascom Ratliff of
Louisa; a sister in Beauty, Mrs. Mary Runyon; 30 grandchildren and 48
great grandchildren.
  
Willis tackett and Bruce Daniels conducted services in the Whitehouse
Church on November 29, and burial was in the Layne Cemetery nearby.
  
All arrangements were under the direction of the Preston Funeral
Home.
