NATHAN ASBURY MCKENZIE 1869-1948 OBITUARY Nathan Asbury McKenzie was born January 4, 1869, and departed this life April 18, 1948. He was the son of Martin and Littie Sparks McKenzie. On September 5. 1895, he was married to Cora Ward of Sitka, Ky., and to this union was born six children, four daughters and two sons: Mrs. J. M. Slone, Paintsville, Mrs. Charles Stapleton of Lowmansville, deceased, Mrs. J. H. Hampton, Lowmansville, Mrs. Roy A. Daniels, Sitka; Mr. R. B McKenzie and Mr. Clyde McKenzie, both of Paintsville. He leaves to mourn his passing besides his wife and children, thirty grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, one brother, Phillip McKenzie, and a host of friends and relatives. Brother McKenzie was converted and baptized by the hand of Brother W. W. Daniels and joined the United Baptist Church at Sugar Grove January 1894. Later he came by letter to the United Baptist Church at Georges Creek where he was ordained a deacon fifteen years ago. He lived a true, devoted Christian life until separated by death. His wife lost one of the most loving husbands, the children a dear, devoted father, the church one of its greatest deacons, but their loss is heaven’s gain. He will be missed by all who knew him; but if his pattern in life is followed, they will be able to meet him where God said He would wipe away all tears. Brother McKenzie came to the end of life’s journey at the age of 73 months, and 14 days.
