DERWOOD LITZ

The body of Derwood Litz, who died in the mine explosion at Van Lear, was
brought here for burial Saturday.

Derwood, who lived here for many years, had a host of friends who came to
pay their last respects, and to offer sympathy to the bereaved family.

Funeral services were held at the Christian Church.

Friends and relatives from out of town who attended the funeral were: Mr.
and Mrs. Oliver Stapleton, Mr. and Mrs. Mart Stapleton and Paul Stapleton
all of Litchfield, Ky., Mr. and Mrs. Luther Litz of Huntington, W. Va.,
Sam Litz and Mrs. Tom Pruitt of Portsmouth, Ohio, Mr. and Mrs. Albert
Burke of Williamson, W. Va., Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Burke and daughter Ruth,
Mrs. Green Conley and children, of Van Lear.
