CLARENCE KERNS 1887-1950 Death Claims Tutor Key Man Rites At Toms Creek For Clarence Kerns Clarence Kerns, 63, died as the result of a heart attack at his home in Tutor Key, at 11:30 p. m., Monday, September 4, 1950. He was the son of Lewis and Jennie Cooke Kerns and was born June 2, 1887, in Lawrence County, Ohio. A retired miner, he had been a resident of Tutor Key for 11 years. Surviving besides his wife, Mrs. Ella McKenzie Kerns, whom he married in 1915 at Offutt, Ky., are six sons and four daughters; Howard, Douglas, and Kenneth Kerns, all of Tutor Key; James, Bob White, W. Va.; Richard, Detroit, Michigan; Jack, Columbus, Ohio; Mrs. Jessie Eiglensee, Columbus, Ohio, Mrs. Neva Brown, Volga; Mrs. Ruth Castle, Wharton, W. Va., and Mrs. Minnie Grace Barber, Paintsville. Surviving brothers and sisters are: Walter Kerns, West Virginia; Ray Kerns, Ohio; Rex Kerns, Ohio; Mrs. Lizzie Price, Cincinnati, Ohio, Mrs. Bertha Kinder, West Virginia. Funeral rites were held at the Toms Creek United Baptist Church at 10:30 a. m., Thursday, September 7, 1950. Burial was made in the Family Cemetery at Tutor Key, with the Paintsville Funeral Home directing. Paintsville Herald Thursday 9-7-1950
