Stephen Howard, 73, Elna, Ky., a retired oil worker and farmer,
died suddenly of a heart attack at his home Friday, June 1, 1956.

The son of the late Thomas and Lydia Gullett Howard, he was born
March 11, 1883, in Magoffin County.

He was a member of the United Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Merzie Howard, six sons, M/Sgt. Joe
Howard, Fort Monmouth, New Jersey, Hollie and Harold Howard both of
Fairborn, Ohio, Douglas Howard, Cynthiana, Ky., Paul Howard,
Meally, Ky., and Mack Howard, Elna, Ky., and three daughters, Mrs.
Robert Williams, Ashland, Mrs. A. C. VanHoose, South Vienna, O.,
and Mrs. Darrell Burcher, Win, Ky.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 5, 1956 afternoon at the
Win United Baptist Church with Lonza Reed, Kendrick Blanton, Tommy
Bailey and Oscar McCarty as officiating ministers.

Burial was made in the Lemaster Cemetery at Win under the direction
of the Paintsville Funeral Home.
