ELIAS GEORGE
1901-1979
Elias George, 77, died Sunday, January 7, in Highland Regional
Medical Center after an extended illness.
Born May 25, 1901 in Lawrence County, he was the son of Elisha and
Julia Brown George. He was a resident of Paintsville, a retired C & O
Railroad employee and a member of the Enterprise Baptist Church.
His first wife, Bertha Webb George preceded him in death.
Surviving are his wife, Alka Helton George; 3 sons, Gene George of
Warsaw, IN, Elias George Jr. of Kansas and Chester George of Texas; 2
daughters, Julia Young of Kenova, WV and Dottie Mead of Whitehouse; 2
brothers, Lundie George of Ulysses and Homer George of Urbana, OH; a
sister Virgie Meadows of Greenup; 16 grandchildren; 1 great
grandchild.
Funeral services will be held tod ay, Wednesday, January 10, at 11
a.m. in Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel with Reverends Ellis
Hamilton and Byrd Webb officiating.
Burial was in Burke Cemetery at Thealka with Jones- Preston Funeral
Home handling arrangements.
