Mrs. Alice Daniel, 70, wife of Alonzo Daniel of Van Lear, died in a
local hospital Monday at 11:30 p.m., after an illness of twelve
days.

The daughter of the late Shade and Juliana Penix Ward, she was born
at Williamsport May 16, 1889, and had resided at Van Lear for the
past thirty-five years. She was a member of the United Baptist
Church.

Surviving are three sons, Cecil Daniel, Lowmansville; Estill
Daniel, Van Lear; Russell Daniel, Wabash, Indiana; one daughter,
Mrs. Hazel Fisher, Van Lear; one brother, Clint Meeks, West Van
Lear; two sisters, Mary Bell Penix and Sophia Penix, both of
Williamsport. Also surviving are twenty-two grandchildren and two
great- grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted at 10:00 a.m., Thursday from the
Old Friendship United Baptist Church at Wiliamsport with Winfrey
Meek, Arthur Priest and Nim Sturgill.

Burial was in the Pack Cemetery at Williamsport
