FLEM CONLEY
1881-1960

Flem Conley, 78, a retired miner, died Tuesday morning, October 18, in a
local hospital after a three-week illness. He was a resident of Van
Lear, where he had lived for 27 years.

Born in Morgan County, October 31, 1881, he was a son of the late Monroe
and Sara Williams Conley.

He had been a resident of Johnson County for the past 48 years. He was a
member of the Freewill Baptist Church and the United Mine Workers of
America.

He was married in 1903 to Miss Emma Coldiron who survives him. Also
surviving are two sons, Stelson and James H. Conley, both of Van Lear,
one daughter, Mrs. Roy Colvin of Paintsville, one sister, Mrs. Mattie
Stafford, Vanceburg, Ky., and two brothers, Frank Conley, Malone, Ky.,
and Sam Conley, McDowell, Ky.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Van Lear
Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Walker Hooper, Rev. Edgar Howlett and
Rev. Charles Perry officiating.

Burial will be in the Wells Cemetery here.
