LEWIS THOMAS BURTON 1873-1955 L. T. Burton, 81, a resident of Paintsville for 32 years, died at his home on Third Street Friday morning, following an illness of a year. Born June 22, 1873 in Lawrence County, he was the son of the late Thomas J. and Julia Davis Burton. He was a member of the First Church of God. A retired merchant, he had been in the clothing, grocery and furniture business. Prior to his illness, he was the owner of Burton's Clothing Store. Surviving are his wife, Vina Chandler Burton, two daughters, Mrs. S. M. Chandler, Danville, and Mrs. Russell Chandler, city, fifteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Other survivors include one sister, Mrs. Isaac Salyer, Kerz, and two brothers, P. A. Burton, Chandlersville, Russell Burton, Waverly, Ohio. Funeral services were held Sunday at the First Church of God with Moses Kitchen and Woodrow Frisby as officiating ministers. Music was by the Toms Creek Quartet. Burial was made in the Burton Cemetery at Chandlersville under the direction of the Paintsville Funeral Home. PAINTSVILLE HERALD WEDNESDAY JUN.22 1955
