Janetta Faye Meek Brewer, 65, of Catlettsburg, died Thursday, Aug. 4,
2005 at her residence.
  
Born May 14, 1940, in Johnson County, she was a daughter of the late
Ernest and Kathleen Butcher Penix. She was a college professor with
Ashland Community College. She was Johnson County's first female
sheriff serving from 1966-1968 to finish the term of her late
husband, Walter Meek.
  
Survivors include her second husband, Robert A. Brewer of
Catlettsburg; two daughters, Anita Meek of Williamsport, and Terrie
Meek of Ironton, Ohio; a sister, Kathy Collins of Bath County; two
grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
  
Funeral services were Sunday, Aug. 7, at Jones-Preston Funeral Home
Chapel, Paintsville, with Ivan Meek officiating.
  
Burial was in Butcher Family Cemetery, Williamsport, under direction
of Jones- Preston Funeral Home.
