JESSE BLEVINS 49, Passes Monday After Brief Illness Services were held Thursday, afternoon for Jesse Blevins, 49, who died Monday in a local hospital after a very brief illness. His wife, Eva Music Blevins survives him. Born July 2 1907 in Johnson County, he was the son of Dick Blevins, who survives, and the late Nora Meade Blevins. He had been a lifelong resident of Van Lear. A coal miner by trade, he was affiliated with Local 5835 United Mine Workers of America. Surviving besides his wife and father are one son, Daniel, of Van Lear; two daughters, Patsy and Phyllis, both at home; two brothers, Paul Blevins, Cliff, Ky.; and Richard Odell Blevins, Warsaw, Michigan; and nine sisters, Mrs. Fannie Wetzel, Jenkins, Ky.; Mrs. Minerva Bartley, Big Branch, Ky.; Mrs. Bertha Williams, Burlington, Ky.; Mrs. Georgia Ayres, Mrs. Audrey Estep, both of Columbus, Ohio; Mrs. Beatrice Marlow, Washington, D.C.; Mrs. Bridget Spradlin, Mrs. Macca Church, and Miss Helen Blevins, all of Van Lear. The Rev. Edgar Hewlett officiated at the funeral service and at the burial which was made in the Club House Cemetery at Van Lear under the direction of the Jones-Preston Funeral Home.
