MONROE YOUNG
Monroe Young, County Resident, Dies Monday
Monroe Young, 71, Lowmansville resident, died in a local hospital Monday following an illness of three months.
Born January 4, 1883, he was the son of George and Mary White Young. He was a member of the United Mine Workers. He had been a resident of Lowmansville since 1939, and had previously lived in Van Lear. He was a retired miner.
He is survived by his wife, Hattie Murray Young, six sons, Herbert Young, Barnetts Creek, Herschell Young, Price, KY., Jay Young, Huntington, W. VA., Clarence Young, San Francisco, CA, Lawrence Young, Columbus, OH and James Young, Columbus, OH and one daughter, Mrs. Georgia Little, Price, KY. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, and six brothers, Tom Young, Van Lear, Gilbert Young, Van Lear, Bert Young, Van Lear, Otto Young, Van Lear, Bradley Young, Chandlerville and Bill Young, Tutor Key.
Funeral services were conducted today at 10:30 AM at the United Baptist Church at Lowmansville.
Officiating ministers were Foster Grim, Charley Hackney and Florida Lyons.
Burial was made in the family cemetery under the direction of the Paintsville Funeral Home.
