Truck Accident Fatal To Local Man
Wm. Russell Woods World War II Veteran Dies September 27
Mr. William Russell Woods, 24, of East Point, son of Mr. John E. Woods and the late Gertrude Fraley Woods, was fatally injured Saturday afternoon, September 27, in a truck accident on Route 460 near Staffordsville.
It is reported that the truck in which he was hauling gravel for the Midway Service Company overturned and pinned him underneath after it was crowded off the road by another truck.
He was a World War II veteran having entered the U.S. Army in May 1943. He received his discharge in November 1945 after participating in several campaigns in the European Theater.
He is survived by his wife, Geneva May Blevins, and two small children, his father, John E. Woods, city, one brother, Charles, city, and one sister, Mrs. Loretta Spears, city.
Funeral services were conducted by Revs. Dan Fraley and Dewey Fraley at the home of his father in King Addition, Tuesday at 2;00 pm.
Burial was in the O'Bryan family cemetery near Staffordsville.
