DICIE WHEATLEY 1925 Mrs. John Brown Wheatley died Wednesday after a brief illness. Mrs. John Brown Wheatley, age 19 years, died at the home of Mrs. J. B. Wheatley at the Dennison Hotel in Paintsville last Wednesday evening. Her death was due to blood poison. Mrs. Wheatley was sick only a few days and not until a short time before her death was the condition thought to be serious. She was before her marriage a few years ago Miss Dycie Rice and was a student in the Jno. C.C. Mayo College here. Her parents reside on Jennies Creek. She has just recently moved from Jenkins to Paintsville with her husband. It was indeed a sad death, as she leaves a young son only eighteen months of age. All that human efforts could do was done to save her life and she met the end with a calmness that was unusual in such cases. The remains were taken last Thursday to the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. I. M. (Bud) Rice, on Jennies Creek her old home, where they were laid to rest to await the Judgement Day. She was a member of the Baptist Church and well liked by all people. She had a pleasant disposition and her friends were all who knew her. In addition to her parents, brothers and sisters, she is survived by a husband and young son mentioned above. Her death caused much sorrow here and the fact that it was so sudden makes it all the more severe for her family and friends. She was a true wife and mother and the husband and other members of her family have the deepest sympathy of all. The Paintsville Herald. March 12, 1925
