Retired Miner Kelly Wells, 68, Dies December 16 1966.
Kelly Wells, age 68, died Friday, December 16, at 9 a.m. at a
local hospital following a brief illness.
Born October 7, 1898 in Johnson County, he was the son of the late
Willie and Ella Spears Wells . He was a member of the Church of
Christ and had been a life long resident of Daniels Creek. He was
a retired farmer and miner and had been employed at the Princess-
Elkhorn Coal Company at David. He also spent many years working in
West Virginia.
His wife, Mrs. Bertha Webb Wells survives.
Additional survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Bill (Bernice)
Austin, City and two grandchildren, Denise Ann and Timothy Wayne
Austin; a brother Elmer Wells and a sister, Mrs. Glady Collins,
both of Daniels Creek.
He is also survived by seven step children and several step
grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, December 18, at 2 p.m., at the
Upper Daniels Creek Church of Christ with Cecil Sherman, J.H.
Short and Edgar Preston officiating.
Burial took place in the family cemetery at Daniels Creek under
the direction of the Jones-Preston Funeral Home.
