ALI WELLS
1904-1981
Ali Wells, 76, a retired miner and a Van Lear resident died Friday,
May 22, in a Lexington Hospital.
He was the son of Sammy J. and Cynthia Spriggs Wells, and was born in
Johnson County in December 1904.
He was a member of the Church of Christ.
His wife, Sadie Collins Wells died in May 1965. 3 sons and 8
daughters survive. They include Ali Wells Jr. of Auxier, Sammy J.
Wells and Charles Wells of Van Lear, Lorrain Mollett and Doris Fannin
of Van Lear, Emogene Caudill of Russell, Ilene Oney of Raceland,
Cynthia Morris of Ashland, Donna Rambo of Worthington, Merle Collins
of Warsaw, IN, and Mary Rider of Redwood, CA; 34 grandchildren; 11
great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Bill Wells of Nippa and Brownlo
Wells of Van Lear; a sister, Goldie Horn of Stone.
Rev. Bennie Blankenship officiated at the services held Monday, May
25, in the chapel of the Jones-Preston Funeral Home.
Burial was in the Wells family cemetery at Van Lear.
