Rites Held Saturday For Proctor Walters
Proctor Walters, 72, well known resident of River, Ky, died at his
home Wednesday, April 27 1955, following an illness of three
months.
Born January 29, 1883 in Johnson County, he was the son of the late
James and Sarah Frances Daniels Walters.
He was a farmer by occupation and a minister of the United Baptist
Church.
Surviving are his wife, Maude Boyd Walters, and four daughters,
Mrs. Elbert Castle, Ashland, Mrs. Sam Brickey, Huntington, W. Va.,
Mrs. Dexter Castle, Tucson, Arizona, and Mrs. Don Meeks, River.
Other survivors include five brothers, Oscar Walters, Jesse H.
Walters, and H.R. Walters, all of Ashland, German Walters, Georges
Creek, and Vint Walters, Patrick, and two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth
Stambaugh, Ashland, and Mrs. Miranda Williamson, Wittensville.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the River United
Baptist Church with Cully Sparks and Leonard Walters as officiating
ministers.
Burial was made in the family cemetery at River under the direction
of the Jones and Preston Funeral Home.
