County Woman Dies Wednesday
Services Held Friday For Mrs. R.C. Spencer
Mrs. Matilda Stambaugh Spencer, 88, died Wednesday at her home at
Stambaugh following an illness of three weeks.
Born February 14, 1869, at Stambaugh, she was the daughter of the
late Samuel and Elizabeth Spencer Stambaugh.
She was married May 26, 1895, to R. C. Spencer. He preceded her in
death May 29, 1955.
Surviving are two brothers, Lewis Stambaugh of Stambaugh and Fred
Stambaugh of Wittensville, and one sister, Mrs. Kelly Rothwell of
Stambaugh.
Services were conducted at 10 a.m. Friday from the Locust Grove
United Baptist Church with F.F. Rigsby as officiating minister.
Burial was made in the family cemetery at Stambaugh under the
direction of the Preston Funeral Home.
