HARRY SELVAGE Retired Miner Dies October 28
Harry B. Selvage, 76, retired miner of Denver, died at 4:20 p.m., October 28, 1960 in St. Mary's Hospital in Huntington, W. Va., following an illness of six weeks.
The son of John and Martha Hitchcock Selvage, he was born at Rock House January 4, 1884, and had lived at Denver for the past eleven years.
His first marriage was to Cora Crace Selvage who preceded him in death May 6, 1947. He was later married to Ada Black, who also preceded him in death, November 10, 1956. His wife, Mrs. Dora Fairchild Selvage, survives.
Surviving besides his wife are seven children; three sons, John W. Selvage, Shreve, Ohio; Robert Selvage, Dayton, Ohio; Harry B. Selvage, Jr., Dayton, Ohio; four daughters, Stella Mae Caudill, Auxier; Bessie Fairchild, Staffordsville; Maxie Webb, Alexander, Ohio; Miss Mollie Selvage, Dayton, Ohio.
Also surviving are 24 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and the following brothers and sisters; Add Selvage, West Van Lear; Clate and Alfred Selvage, Denver; Jessie Selvage, Springfield, Ohio; Cal Selvage, West Van Lear; Mrs. Malta Ratliff, Denver; Mrs. Mary Jane Spradlin, Barnetts Creek; half brothers, Ford Selvage, Wise, Va.; Kelly Selvage, Lucasville, Ohio; Dewey Selvage, Staffordsville; Wade Selvage, Ashland; half sisters, Myrtle Fairchild of this city; Stella Cooper, Ohio; Tavia Ealey, Turner Branch; Gracie Milan, Lucasville, Ohio; Zora Ward, Staffordsville.
Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 31, from the Liberty Baptist Church at Denver with James Lyons and Scott Castle as officiating ministers.
Burial was in the Ratliff Cemetery at Denver.
