TOPSY RATLIFF
Seventy-year-old Topsy Ratliff died in a local hospital on
August 12 1970 after a short illness.
Charles Lemaster, Scott Castle and Claude Preston conducted services
three days later in the Rockhouse Freewill Baptist Church, in which
Ratliff was a member.
Burial was in the Topsy Ratliff Cemetery at Denver, under the guidance
of the Jones-Preston Funeral Home.
He was born in Johnson County to the late Leander and
Hattie Salvage Ratliff.
Survivors are his wife, Ruby VanHoose Ratliff, and 11 sons, Obie,
Lee, Topsy Jr., Earl, Hollie, Lawrence, Andy and Clark Ratliff all
from Denver, and Frank, Jay and Ova Ratliff of Urbana, Ohio;
seven daughters, Dicie VanHoose, Dixie Blair, Ella Hitchcock,
Ollie Ratliff, Martha Ratliff and Mary Ratliff, all of Denver,
and Hattie Thacher from Urbana, Ohio.
Also included among survivors is a brother from Fallsburg,
Clark Rattliff; two sisters, Mattie Ratliff of Turner Branch,
and Minnie Fairchild from Staffordsville; 29 grand-children
and 4 great-grand-children.
