EARL NICKELL, 21,
FLAT GAP, VICTIM OF AUTO WRECK IN OHIO
Earl Nickell, 21, was fatally injuried in an auto wreck 15 miles out
of Portsmouth (Ohio) Tuesday morning. He was taken to the Portsmouth
General Hospital where he died shortly afterwards.
A cousin of the young man was slightly injured.
According to information received here Nickell was returning from
Chicago and while rounding a curve lost control of the car and
smashed into a tree when his attention was attracted by a small boy
who was waving at the car. Nickell's skull was crushed by the
collision.
He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Nickell of Flat Gap, and
besides his father and mother he is survived by several sisters and
brothers.
Funeral and burial services were conducted at Flat Gap Thursday.
Nickell was a prominent young man of that section. He was a graduate
of Flat Gap High School, class of 1939.
The body was brought to the Preston Funeral Home Tuesday night,
prepared for burial and then taken to Flat Gap Wednesday afternoon.
