JAMES A. DUTY
Services were held Friday, September 17, 1971, for James A. Duty, 89, who succumbed at a local nursing home September 14, 1971, after an extended illness.
Born February 28, 1882, at Tomahawk, he was the son of the late Davie and Sarah Hunt Duty. He had been a resident of Whitehouse for some 60 years, and was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church.
His wife, Anna, whom he married in 1908, preceded him in death in November, 1960.
Survivors include two sons, Willie Duty of Williamsport and Kennis Duty of Whitehouse, and a daughter, Gracie Duty of Lexington. He also is survived by 22 grandchildren and 45 great- grandchildren.
Fred Rowland, Doc Rowland and Joe Fletcher officiated at services held at the Hammond Freewill Baptist Church.
Burial followed in the family cemetery at Whitehouse.
The Preston Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
