"Woman Dies After Fall From Car County's Seventh Traffic Fatality"
Anna Duty, 73, died at 11:15 a.m. Thursday in the Paintsville Clinic from Injuries sustained on October 22 1960, when she fell from an automobile in which she was riding with a grandson. The accident occurred on the Hammond Road in the Whitehouse section, when the door opened as the car, swung around a curve on the road, throwing the victim to the pavement. A brain concussion was given as the cause of death. It was believed at the lime of the mishap that she suffered only minor injuries. She was taken immediately to her daughter's home, but was removed on October 29 to a hospital after her condition worsened.
She was born July 12, 1887, a daughter of Franklin and Jane Webb Purkey.
She had been a resident of the White House area all her life, and was a member of the Church of God.
On September 15, 1907, she was married at Tomahawk, Ky., to James A. Duty, who survives her.
Other survivors are two sons, Willie Duty, Williamsport; Kennis Duty, Whitehouse; one daughter, Miss Gracie Duty, Williamsport; 19 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, T. J. Purkey, Williamsport and William Henry Purkey, Boons Camp.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Sunday, at the White House Church with the Rev. Jeff Perry and Rev. Moses Kitchen officiating.
Burial was in the family cemetery.
She is the seventh traffic fatality in the county since January 1.
