LURA BUTCHER 1881-1970 Lura Butcher, 89, died in a local nursing home on November 28 1970 after an extended illness. The Boons Camp resident, a member of the Baptist Church, was married to the late Ballard Butcher, who preceded her in death in 1942. She was born in November, 1881, in Lawrence County, to the late Henry and Mary Alice Skaggs Deboard. Services were held in the Whitehouse Church on December 1, with Brank and Herman Skaggs officiating. Burial was in the Butcher Cemetery at Boons Camp. The Preston Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements. Survivors include three sons, Arlen Butcher of Miami, Fla., and Earl and Bill Butcher of Boons Camp; three daughters from Boons Camp, Mrs. Elva Mollett, Mrs. Mary Preston and Mrs. Edna Preston; a half-brother from Ashville, Ohio, Oscar Scarberry; Fannie VanHoose, a half-sister in Williamsport; two sisters, Marcella Butcher of Whitehouse and Minnie Hicks of Columbus, Ohio; 47 grandchildren and 76 great grandchildren.
