Elmer Burchwell, 87, of Blaine, went home to be with the Lord
Wednesday, May 6, at 1:21 p.m. at King's Daughters Medical Center,
Ashland.

Elmer was born May 17, 1921, to Luther Spencer and Ella Esther
(Lyons) Burchwell. At the age of 21, he married the love of his life,
Joy Kelley. To this blessed union were born 4 children: Spencer Jay
(Sandy) Burchwell of Springfield, Ohio, Kathy Mae (Donald) Cole of
Coffeen, Illinois, Ronald Ray (Lorraine) Burchwell, Springfield,
Ohio, Lisa Gay (Freddie) Collier, Louisa, and a special friend, like
a son, Cody Greene of Blaine. Elmer and Joy are blessed with 11
grandchildren: Elmer Lee (Carol) Burchwell, Tim (Cari) Burchwell,
Greg (Rhonda) Burchwell, Jonathan Cole, Sarah (Richard) Beaudry,
Veronica Kimmerly, Linda Galandi, Jessica (Josh) Maynard, Kayla
Collier, Glen Sherrat, Darrin Suttland of England. Twenty-one great
grandchildren: Seth, Caleb and Noah Burchwell, Emily, Samantha and
Hannah Burchwell, Katlyn and Jacob Burchwell, Laikan and Abby Jayne
Crawford, Jacoby Maynard, Hunter James Beaudry, Austin and Autumn
Kimmerly, Mike Galandi, Craig Sherrat, Saskaa Young, Tyler, Jaiden
Drazzaki, Avia Suttling.

Elmer retired from Ashland Oil in 1983 after 30 years of service in
the Martha Oil Fields. Elmer accepted Christ as his personal Savior
in 1949. He answered the call to preach in 1950. During this 59 years
he traveled hundreds of thousands of miles preaching the gospel and
salvation. During the last hours of his life, he was preaching the
gospel and singing the praises of the Lord telling all to be a
Christian. His last song was "I'm in the Glory Land Way".

Funeral services were 11 a.m., Saturday, May 9, at the Wilson Funeral
Home. Burial followed in the Skaggstown Cemetery, Flat Gap, under
direction of Wilson Funeral Home, Louisa.
